Elizabeth BaumanNewsletter December 2010, Volume 13
I was a little uncertain I would be able to get a newsletter out this month, but looks like I made it. I don't know about you, but the holiday preparations have been keeping me extra busy this year. I have some new ideas I'm playing with for current and future paintings. Trying out some new subject, new approaches. It seems I need to keep evolving otherwise boredom sets in.
I have also given a lot of thought for my goals for 2011. I'm so pleased that my goal for 2010 was met: to get more local exposure. I think for 2011 I want to do more locally and expand that area further (hopefully Portland, for example). And I'm still thinking what else I might like to do.
It has been fun to see where this all takes me. Where I am now was only a dream five years ago and it is exciting to think where my next "dreams" will take me.
I have a couple new paintings to share and, if you haven't seen it on my blog, a group of six special paintings I made just for the the holiday showcase at the Mary Lou Zeek Gallery. The gallery requested some pieces 6 x 6 inch in size at an affordable price, so here is what I came up with (each is priced at $85, acrylic on panel). I know one for sure has already sold but the others might still be available.
Then I finished these two paintings:
'Of great importance too', Acrylic and Oil on 12 x 12 inch canvas.
'The ghost of her former self' Acrylic and Oil on 16 x 20 inch wood panel.
The photos on those are not great, sorry. I still have to "oil out" the paintings once they are dry enough and re-take the photos. The oiling out, like varnishing, makes a huge difference with oil paint in the photographing.
I hope everyone has a very good holiday season! And a Happy New Year.
